AMS Phoenix Project Grant- Adam Gavarkovs
Medical schools increasingly rely upon learning technologies to deliver core educational content to students remotely, particularly in the context of the current pandemic. This project aims to explore how to design technology-enabled remote learning contexts to ensure that they support medical students' development into skilled and compassionate physicians. We will focus on the design strategies that help satisfy medical students' basic psychological needs of autonomy, competence, and relatedness. We anticipate that designing learning technologies to satisfy students' basic psychological needs will enhance their engagement with learning and orient them towards providing more compassionate care in the future.
